Thruster Brake are the equipments that are used to decelerate a moving machinery and instantly stop them accurately to the desired position. The braking force generated is applied to the brake shoe by a heavy duty pre-stressed compression spring. They are equipped with abrasion resistant shoe press that fits on the rotating drum to retard its speed. Thruster Brake are provided with various components such as crank lever, friction pads, tie rod, swivel arm, lock nut, side arm etc. that are connected to each other for the efficient working. Generally the brakes are applied when the motor is de-energized but when it is energized a push is generated by the thruster which lifts up the crank lever to move shoe away from the drum.
